Still killing spammers but I’ve been working with the plug-ins to find the ones that will keep the spammers out. Next week is finals week for me at school so I’ll be kind of busy. But after that, I should have time to get more done.
I’m beginning to think that this is not going to work. I’m spending more time fighting off spammers than I do running all the websites I run put together. WordPress has more holes than a prairie dog village and I feel like I’m playing whack-a-mole.
Erin,
As much as I love this experiment, if this takes up so much time to police then it may not be worth the effort. Even though Wordpress has some nice features, perhaps it is time to scrap this and try something else.
Thank you for going the extra mile on this. At least now you know the pitfalls and can evaluate better if enough progress is made later to try this experiment again when more of the leaks have been plugged.
All my hopes,
Ariel
The only way it seems I can do this is to require that I make all the blogs. If I allow auto-signups, no matter what sort of spam filter I put on it, the spammers still get through because they know how to craft the messages to WP to bypass the filters.
Make sure you do your best on your finals, we can deal with some spam while you are focused on that.
Good luck hon.

If it’s more work and hassle than fun, it’s not worth it.
It’s nice of you to want to create an environment for us, but not at the expense of your free time.
Hugs,
Kaleigh Way
